"Clelia, modella, a 18 anni è stata colpita da ictus con emiparesi destra e nel 2023, dopo aver finalmente imparato a convivere con i postumi permanenti dell'ictus, scopre di avere la sclerosi multipla, malattia invisibile. Una modella è emblema di salute e benessere. Quindi la comune reazione è: “Non sembri malata”.Quel giorno ho fotografato lei mentre era in attesa della seconda infusione dell'unica terapia al momento disponibile. Nella foto, uso come specchio la lastra della risonanza magnetica al cervello, che ha evidenziato la malattia e permesso la diagnosi, per rappresentare il senso di attesa e di angoscia per il suo futuro.Ho fotografato la radiografia del suo cervello che si specchia nel suo ritratto, senza modifiche aggiunte al computer."

Clelia, a model, suffered a stroke with right hemiparesis at the age of 18 and in 2023, after finally learning to live with the permanent after-effects of the stroke, discovered she has multiple sclerosis, an invisible disease. A model is typically an emblem of health and well-being. So the common reaction is, “You don’t look sick.” That day I photographed her while she was waiting for the second infusion of the only therapy currently available to treat her form of Multiple Sclerosis. In the photo, I usef the brain MRI scan as a mirror, which highlighted the disease and is a key test for the diagnosis, to represent the sense of waiting and anguish for her future. I photographed the x-ray of her brain that is reflected in her portrait, without modifications added to the computer.”
